Becci's Story
Posted on Feb 20 2019 by
As part of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) History Month, we aim to put a spotlight on the amazing people of the LGBT community. Here we look at our very own Becci.
Becci is a diversity and inclusion officer at St Andrew’s, and identifies herself as a gay woman. After initially facing trials and tribulations early in her career as a result of her sexuality, she was worried that she would not get the support she needed.
It was a conversation with a service director at St Andrew’s that made Becci feel comfortable and ready to tell the patients about who she is. The talk was all that was required for Becci to feel confident, shape her as a person, and realise that she was not alone.
Becci’s experiences are reflected in the fantastic work she does in her role within diversity and inclusion at the charity. We are all very proud of her, and encourage others to follow in her footsteps!
