Staff and patients come together for events

Every summer, St Andrew’s Healthcare organises a series of summer parties for all patients to enjoy. This year, approximately 600 patients from our four sites have had the opportunity to relax and have fun with staff and fellow patients, by taking part in events on our grounds.
Always a highly anticipated day in the calendar, the summer festivities were kicked off with an Alice in Wonderland-themed event on 7 July at our Essex site, where a Freddie Mercury tribute act performed at the request of the patients, who also got to enjoy a barbeque and afternoon tea.
The activities then moved on to Nottingham where there was a variety of fun fair activities. A live band performed and patients also took to the stage for Karaoke, after enjoying their fish and chips and ice cream.
It was then the turn of the Northampton patients on 26 July, where the rain showers didn’t dampen any spirits for their ‘Colourfest’. A photo booth, complete with fancy dress props, and the visiting farm animals proved to be a hit, as attendees wore their colourful ponchos to enjoy the afternoon. Northampton Town Football Club were also present to support the event, with patients taking part in a penalty shoot-out.
The summer party spirit then hit Birmingham on 28 July where the theme was seaside and Hawaii. Activities included a classic tombola, a tin can alley and other games, while food ranged from American burgers to Asian vegetable curry.
Reflecting on the events, Sarah Goodall, Senior Events Coordinator at St Andrew’s Healthcare, said: “It’s been a wonderful couple of weeks hosting parties at all of our sites for our patients.
“It was fantastic to see our staff come together to provide a range of activities, stalls and entertainment, giving the patients a special day that they won’t forget.”
