Our furry friends receive some treats for all their hard work

Our wonderful Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs have been gifted 10 beautifully prepared parcels from Pets at Home to see in the New Year, by way as a thank you for bringing a smile to our patients’ faces during 2020.

“We’d just like to thank Pets at Home for their kind contribution,” said Joanna Mawdsley, voluntary services assistant.

“We’re quite sure that these pet parcels won’t last long in their new homes, and will be gobbled up with delight.”

St Andrew’s PAT volunteers, own 21 dogs between them.  Our four-legged friends visit each of our hospital sites (Northampton, Birmingham and Essex) on a regular basis, bringing so much joy, comfort and companionship to our patients.

Volunteers make a huge contribution to the well-being and recovery of our patients and provide the perfect enhancement to our staff, in helping transform lives of people affected by mental health issues. Our support structure ensures that St Andrew's Volunteers' gain as much as they give from volunteering.

Any and all dogs are welcome to join our Pets As Therapy team.  To become a PAT dog volunteer, you will need to have owned your dog for at least six months and register with the national Pets As Therapy Association.
