Nick gets ready for Strictly Northampton!

Nurse Manager Nick Moore, who works with children and adolescents at St Andrew’s Healthcare, will be among the novices taking part in the Strictly Northampton dancing show 2017.

Now in its eighth year, the contestants have just eight weeks to learn two dance routines before performing in front of a full house of 1,500 at the Royal and Derngate theatre. The dancers will strut their stuff before a judging panel and live audience, with the winner taking home the much coveted Strictly Northampton glitterball trophy.

The final of the annual event, organised by Step by Step Dance Studio, takes place on Saturday 18 November at the Royal and Derngate. The dance extravaganza aims to raise money for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice, which provides palliative care services for patients in Northampton.

Nick works with young people between the ages of 10 and 18 who have complex mental health disorders, including severe emotional and behavioural difficulties, intellectual disabilities, mental illness and autistic spectrum disorders.

“I’ve not danced in 15 or 20 years, but I’m looking forward to being put through my paces,” said Nick. “We’ll be dancing two routines in the final – the quick step and the cha-cha. I’ve not danced either of them before, so wish me luck!”
