We know that our staff are our greatest asset

It’s been nearly a year since the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy – a tax which aims to fund three million apprenticeships in the UK by 2020.
Here at St Andrew’s Healthcare, it’s been a great opportunity for us to unlock the potential in our staff, and inclusive access to the scheme has ensured we’re promoting diversity in our workplace and benefiting from everyone in our talent pool.
We are pleased to be able to offer our staff a wide range of vocational qualifications. These are available at different levels, from introductory to degree level qualifications, in subjects related to hospitality and catering, business administration, IT, HR, leadership, management and clinical and nursing disciplines.
Michelle Benton, Learning and Development Manager, explains what we’ve achieved in the past 12 months…
“It’s nearly a year since the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy. The journey at times has been unknown and challenging but also exceptionally rewarding.
“There are still challenges around apprenticeship standards not being ready, and the national numbers for apprenticeships are reportedly a lot lower than wished for by the Government, but despite the challenges we are delighted that St Andrew’s has achieved a 200% growth in our Apprenticeship programme.
"This has been achieved by the unwavering support from our providers, learners and managers. So well done everyone – St Andrew’s is enabling growth and further development – it’s an exciting place to be!”
We know that our staff are our greatest asset and we take our role as a good and ethical employer very seriously.
We encourage continuous learning and development in all parts of the Charity. We invest significant time and resource in equipping each person for their role with us, to maintain and improve the quality of the care we provide.
