Companies across Northamptonshire which are looking to help their local community are being urged to take part in the UK’s biggest mass volunteering event of the year.

The Big Help Out campaign is a nationwide initiative, which starts on June 7, and was created to showcase the benefits and importance of volunteering in local communities.

Companies across the county, such as Goodrich Consulting, are signing up to take part in the scheme which St Andrew’s Healthcare is hosting on Friday within their site. There, participating organisations will be helping out with a series of jobs that will benefit the patients.

Dawn Wright, Voluntary Services Manager, said: “We’re looking forward to being part of this fantastic campaign which is encouraging people to come together. We already have a number of businesses who have signed up, but there’s always room for more people who are willing to lend a hand and experience how rewarding volunteering can be. Together we have the power to make change.

“We have a whole day planned for our volunteers and a long list of varied jobs and roles so there will be something for everyone. From planting to painting to tidying to trimming, everyone is welcome.”

Richard Davies, Partner from Goodrich Consulting LLP, said: “We have been working with St Andrew’s over the past year on a few different projects and when the charity approached us to take part in the Big Help Out campaign, we knew we wanted to be involved. It’s really important that all companies do their bit within their local community. We’re looking forward to rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in, we’re happy to do whatever Dawn and the team throw at us.”
