Evidence suggests that a healthy diet can help both physical and mental health recovery, and here at St Andrew’s Healthcare our catering team work hard to create exciting, nutritious and delicious meals for the people in our care.
Every day our award-winning catering team keep nearly 900 patients and our staff fed and watered, including our 40 Dysphagia patients who require texture modified foods. All meals are cooked freshly within our eight local kitchens.
We recently welcomed assessors from the Institute of Hospitality, and we’re proud to announce that we have again increased our ‘Premier Status’ score within the Hospitality Assured standard. The Premier Status is in recognition of the world-class processes and customer service standards in practice here at St Andrew’s.
During their two-day visit, the assessors interviewed over 20 members of staff, and the lead inspector commented that our team, “has a strong passion to achieve quality and high levels of excellence. Particularly impressive is the patient and customer focused service culture".
Gareth Waters, Head of Restaurants and Catering, said: “It is very reassuring that external inspectors recognise the hard work and dedication the team put in. I am very proud to lead a team with this culture and behaviour at its core.”
While they’re being cared, our patients can choose from a variety of food and drink options. We have recently introduced new picture menus for our patients, to make them more accessible so that people can make healthy choices. Picture menus are now available for both our standard and dysphagia menus.
