Assistant Psychologist within the ASD & Learning Disability Division

Salary: From £25,200 per annum
Hours: Full Time (37.5 per week)

We provide specialist mental healthcare and deliver a range of inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve lives.

Your role with us

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to work in the Autism and Intellectual disability specialism which supports adults with neurodevelopmental disorders and complex mental health and forensic care needs. The pathway has a well-established psycho social treatment programme including ASD specific treatments, offence focused therapy, a DBT service and neurodevelopmental disorder assessment clinic.

The psychology team plays a key role in service delivery and development, with research being a key activity with academic publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

Your profile

The successful applicants will join a large psychology team. Duties are varied and will assist Qualified Psychologists in psychological and behavioural assessments of patient needs, offering group and individual therapy sessions based on CBT and psycho educational models, maintaining research databases, carrying out clinical audits, delivering staff training.

Applicants should have a minimum of an upper second class honours degree in psychology and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. Applicants with either previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting or a relevant post graduate qualification are very welcome. 

Applicants should be very competent in computer skills, research methods, have high levels of literacy and numeracy, and have great interpersonal and communication skills. Previous experience and interest in working with adults with autism, intellectual disability or offenders is advantageous, but not essential.
